Google Photos will notice images created by AI
Google Photos will soon be able to show images created by artificial intelligence to help users identify them.
Here's What We Know
The company is actively developing tools to detect AI-related disinformation, including a new tool called SynthID Text, which watermarks text created by AI. This tool is currently available for developers to test, but it is not yet known whether it will be available to the general public.
The system will provide a special section that will inform that the image was created by AI. The metadata will also indicate how the image was modified and what tool was used for this purpose.
The new feature was noticed in version 7.3 of Google Photos. However, at the time of testing, this option has not yet appeared in version 7.4.0.687342855, which may indicate an update at the server level. Google plans to make this information available for images edited with Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, and other AI-based tools.
