Apple releases update for AirPods Pro 2
Apple has introduced a new firmware update for AirPods Pro 2. The software, which received build number 7B19, is available for USB-C and Lightning models.
Here's What We Know
The update comes ahead of the launch of Hearing Health features in iOS 18.1. These features include a hearing test that simulates an audiological examination, as well as hearing aid options for users with mild to moderate hearing loss.
With 7B19, users will have three new features: hearing test, hearing aid and hearing protection. The hearing test will provide scientifically validated results right at home, while the hearing aid function will provide personalised assistance. The hearing protection option will reduce the impact of loud sounds in different listening modes.
Apple has also approved the AirPods Pro 2 as an over-the-counter hearing aid in the United States. Although the update is automatically installed, access to the new features will require firmware version 7B19 or later. Hearing Health features will be available with iOS 18.1.
