Peaky Blinders screenwriter quits Star Wars Rey movie: project suspended until 2025
For some time, a film in the Star Wars universe about Rey, who appeared in the new trilogy, was in development. However, it is highly likely that we will not see the film for a long time.
Here's What We Know
The screenwriter Steven Knight, who previously made the Peaky Blinders series, left the project and now the film is without a screenwriter again.
Variety reports that Lucasfilm is actively in talks with potential writers to take on the story, which is said to chronicle Rey's attempts to found a new Jedi Academy. However, production probably won't start until at least 2025.
The next Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grog, directed by Jon Favreau, is scheduled to premiere in May 2026. Disney has also planned two more films in the Star Wars universe for December 2026 and December 2027, but has not yet confirmed their titles.
