You won't believe it: Beyond Good & Evil 2 is alive and has a new creative director!
Beyond Good & Evil 2 can probably be called a legend of the gaming industry, but unfortunately in a negative sense.
Ubisoft first announced the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2 in 2008, then in 2017 presented the first gameplay footage and since then - silence.
The game made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-developed game in the history of the industry. Few people believed it at once, but by development time the action-adventure overtook even the infamous shooter Duke Nukem Forever from 3D Realms and Gearbox Software.
In the spring of 2024, insider Tom Henderson reported that the production of Beyond Good & Evil 2, after 16 years, continues, but "the action game is still in the early stages of development and the situation is complicated".
Here's What We Know
Finally, Ubisoft has once again confirmed that development of the long-suffering Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still not cancelled.
Moreover, the company has appointed a new creative director for the game - Fawzi Mesmar, who previously headed the design department of DICE and worked on Battlefield 2042, Star Wars Battlefront II and Battlefield V.
Fawzi Mesmar has been with Ubisoft since 2021 and was even honoured at this year's GDC Awards 2024.
After all of Ubisoft's troubles, one can't help but feel optimistic about the French company and their hopes for the release of Beyond Good & Evil 2, though it remains an open question whether the new creative director will be able to pull the game out of production hell.
