More power, artificial intelligence and better energy efficiency: Samsung has unveiled its new Exynos 1580 chip

While Samsung is facing production problems with its flagship Exynos 2500 chip, the company doesn't seem to have any problems with releasing chips for mid-range smartphones, as it has already announced a new Exynos 1580 processor designed for the Galaxy A56 smartphone and some other models.

Here's What We've Seen

This mid-range chip is made using 4nm EUV FinFET process and features a three-cluster processor with a single Cortex-A720 core at 2.9GHz, three A720 cores at 2.6GHz and four A520 cores at 1.95GHz. The Xclipse 540 GPU and an advanced AI engine with up to 14.7 trillion operations per second provide a highly efficient and smooth experience.

The Exynos 1580 supports LPDDR5 memory, FHD+ resolution displays with 144Hz refresh rate, as well as cameras with up to 200 MP resolution and 4K video recording at 60fps. The chip also features Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and 5G modules.

The improved NPU and GPU capabilities offer 37 per cent better performance compared to its predecessor Exynos 1480, as well as improved noise cancellation and low-light photo quality. The Galaxy A56 with this chip is expected to be released early next year.
