Rheinmetall predicts that Ukraine's need for ammunition will only grow
The German concern Rheinmetall expects to continue ordering ammunition from Ukraine even if peace is reached in the war with Russia.
Here's What We Know
CEO Armin Papperger told Welt am Sonntag that Ukraine is actively working to replenish its ammunition arsenals.
To fully replenish its stockpiles, Ukraine will need approximately four million pieces of artillery ammunition, which underlines the high demand facing Rheinmetall's production facilities.
Rheinmetall has also expanded its presence in Ukraine by setting up local production facilities. The group also supplies a variety of military equipment, including Marder and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.
The first delivery of Lynx vehicles is expected to include nearly ten units, although Papperger noted that Ukraine's wider requirement is closer to 3,000 units - an ambition that is currently limited by budgetary concerns.
Rheinmetall has seen a significant increase in defence orders due to the conflict, forecasting contracts worth more than €60bn by the end of the year, with revenues of €10bn.
Papperger described Rheinmetall as the most profitable defence company in the world, claiming that it is now on par with major US arms manufacturers in terms of global market position.
