According to reports from Korea, Samsung may change the approach to branding its Android smartphones by dropping the iconic Galaxy name for some models.

Here's What We Know

An E-Today report says that the company has started exploring the possibility of launching premium smartphones under a different brand.

Samsung spokesperson Lee Young-hee noted that there are so many models in the Galaxy line that consumers expect a new name when significant innovations are introduced. He noted that the new branding will help to highlight the company's innovative developments more clearly.

The idea is to create a premium image for the new smartphones, just as Genesis separated itself from Hyundai in the automotive industry. "Galaxy has long been an important brand for Samsung and the entire smartphone market. However, with increasing competition, especially from the iPhone in the US, exploring new branding opportunities seems like a sound decision.
