Belarus to build a new outpost on the border with Ukraine
The Belaruski Gajun project reported that the State Border Committee of Belarus will build a new checkpoint on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
Here's What We Know
The Committee has announced a tender for engineering services for the integrated management of the construction of a border outpost in the village of Svicha, located in the Narovlya district of Gomel region.
The outpost is to be built 600 metres from the border with Ukraine and 36 kilometres from the district centre of Narovlya.
The construction project for the border guard outpost in Svicha, located near the Ukrainian border, includes the construction of administrative and technical buildings, a kennel for service dogs, a dormitory for military personnel, and utility networks. All facilities are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
According to Belaruski Gajun, the new outpost is likely to become part of the Mozyr border guard detachment, which already has the only outpost in the area, Narowlia. Thus, the Svicha outpost will be the ninth in the structure of this detachment.
Since 2022, the construction, reconstruction and modernisation of nine border outposts has already been implemented or planned in Gomel Oblast, and similar activities are also underway in Brest Oblast, underlining the increased attention to strengthening the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
