Volodymyr Zelenskyy unofficially asked partners for Tomahawk missiles capable of flying 2500 km - NYT

An unnamed US official told The New York Times that Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly asked for Tomahawk missiles as part of an unofficial "victory plan".

The unnamed official, who spoke to the newspaper on condition of anonymity, said the request was "completely unrealistic".

It should be noted that the Tomahawk has a range of 2,500 km, which is more than seven times the range of the ATACMS missiles that Ukraine received this year.

According to the newspaper, US officials have privately expressed some irritation with Zelenskyy's victory plan, calling it unrealistic and almost entirely dependent on Western aid.

By the way, on Wednesday, 30 October, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that information about Ukraine's desire to obtain Tomahawk missiles was confidential.

"You see what is happening in the media now. They said that Ukraine wants or wanted to get a lot of Tomahawk missiles and so on. But this was confidential information between Ukraine and the White House. How do we understand these messages? It means that there is nothing confidential between the partners," the president said.

He also said that as part of the victory plan, he asked his partners to provide Ukraine with a package of long-range weapons that the Armed Forces could use only if Russia continued the war and escalated.

"I said that this was a preventive method - I was told that it was an escalation," he added.
