MediaTek's Dimensity 8400 chip may use a large-core architecture like the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip
MediaTek unveiled its new flagship Dimensity 9400 chipset in early October and is now gearing up to release a new pre-flagship Dimensity 8400 processor, which, according to insider Digital Chat Station, will use a large-core architecture similar to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Here's What We Know
The informant said that this processor will be manufactured using TSMC's 4nm process, just like its predecessor. The main core of the new chip will be ARM Cortex-A725, which will allow it to achieve results in AnTuTu from 1.7 to 1.8 million points.
In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scores around 1.6 million points and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scores around 2 million points. This means that the Dimensity 8400 will outperform the 8 Gen 2 and come close to the performance of the 8 Gen 3. The new chip is expected to appear in Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco devices as it has been spotted in the HyperOS codebase and has the model number "MT6899". No official release date for this chip has been announced yet.
