One UI 8.0 based on Android 16 could arrive much sooner than previous versions
Google has announced that it will release the next version of Android, Android 16, in the second quarter of 2025, which is earlier than usual. Normally, new versions of Android are released in the third or fourth quarter of the year. This change is due to the company's desire to better align the release schedule of devices in its ecosystem so that more devices can get the update sooner.
Here's What We Know
The early release of Android 16 will allow Samsung to start working on adapting it for One UI 8.0 earlier, which will likely lead to earlier updates for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. One UI 8.0 is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2025, rather than the fourth quarter as has been the norm.
At the same time, Samsung is gearing up for the release of One UI 7.0 based on Android 15, which is expected to take place in the coming months. This update promises to be one of the most significant for Samsung devices, despite delays in its release this year.
