"The ends justify the means": a new trailer for Sid Meier's Civilisation VII reveals Machiavelli's core strengths
Firaxis Games has unveiled another national leader available in Sid Meier's Civilisation VII historical 4X-strategy. This time in the centre of attention was the famous Italian thinker, philosopher and politician Niccolò Machiavelli.
Here's What We Know
As in the real story, in the new part of the popular strategy Machiavelli will be a skilful diplomat, a brilliant manipulator and a cunning leader who can find a benefit in any situation.
Playing as Machiavelli, gamers can follow the path of strengthening diplomatic influence or choose the strategy of economic superiority.
At the end of each era, Machiavelli receives a bonus to influence, and for each accepted diplomatic proposal - an increase in gold. Interestingly, if Machiavelli's initiative is rejected, the player receives a double cash bonus.
Machiavelli is not constrained by relationships with other rulers and can declare war regardless of whether it is friend or foe and can recruit military units in city-states, even if they do not belong to him.
Recall, it is Machiavelli attributed to the famous statement "The end justifies the means" and, it seems, choosing him as a leader, this approach will be as relevant as possible.
Earlier the developers of Sid Meier's Civilisation VII presented the following leaders:
- the first female pharaoh Hatshepsut;
- the founder of the Roman Empire, Octavian Augustus;
- the great Chinese philosopher Confucius;
- Native American leader Tecumseh;
- Vietnamese leader Trung Trac;
- the ruler of India, Ashoka;
- the legendary Persian king Xerxes.
