I don't think it will be news to anyone that the Assassin's Creed series has had some "problems" with the storyline in recent years, which began with the departure of Desmond Miles. After Desmond's departure, Ubisoft tried different approaches, but they often failed and became too complicated, leaving players and critics with the feeling that the modern story had faded into the background.

Here's What We Know

Franchise director Marc-Alexis Coté has acknowledged these problems and announced that Ubisoft plans to refocus the modern elements in the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows game.

In the future, these storylines will serve to "enhance" the historical adventures rather than overshadow them, exploring themes of memory, identity, and autonomy to provide a meaningful contrast between the past and present.

This new direction aims to restore the balance that originally defined the series, making history the core of the player's experience.

Where To Play

Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on 14th February 2025.
