Apple invests $10 million in Indonesia to circumvent ban on iPhone 16 sales

A week ago, Apple found itself in a difficult position as the sale of its new iPhone 16 and Apple Watch 10 models was banned in Indonesia.Apple failed to comply with the law, which requires the use of at least 40% of local parts.

According to Bloomberg News, Apple has decided to invest $10 million in a new factory in Bandung. This initiative is being carried out jointly with a local supplier, Yageo, and is aimed at manufacturing accessories and components for Apple devices.

Apple has applied to the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, hoping to obtain permits to lift the ban on the sale of its devices.

Apple is not the only one to face similar problems in the country, Google was also banned from selling the Pixel 9 series due to failure to meet local content requirements.
