Kids will soon be able to use Google Wallet to make payments through Family Link
Google has announced that in 2025, kids will be able to use Google Wallet for contactless payments on devices with Family Link.
Here's What We Know
This feature has already been tested on the Fitbit Ace LTE smart watch and received positive feedback. Kids will now be able to download the Google Wallet app to their Android devices and make payments in shops using NFC. However, they won't be able to use stored cards for online payments. A PIN, password, fingerprint or facial recognition will be required to confirm payments.
Parents will be able to monitor their children's use of Google Wallet, approve the addition of new cards, view transaction history and delete cards through the Family Link app. The feature will initially be available in a few countries, including the US, with expansion to follow. Google emphasises that the new feature is designed with safety and convenience for parents and children in mind.
