Google TV has updated its app, adding the ability to share links to films and shows with friends and family.

Android and iOS users can now send links to specific films or shows that will open in the Google TV app. If the app isn't installed, the link will redirect to the Google TV website or app shop to install.

This feature only allows you to share lists of content, not access to the content itself. Users still have to have a subscription or buy the content to watch it. The only way to share the Google TV library remains through Google's family library tools, designed to be used within a single household.

The innovation comes shortly after a major redesign of the Google TV app. It's a handy addition, albeit with limitations as it requires the app to be installed for the links to work.
