Insider: Microsoft could unveil its own handheld console as early as 2025
There are often rumours online that Microsoft is developing its own handheld console. This was indirectly hinted at by the head of Xbox Phil Spencer, but most often the information comes from the authoritative journalist and insider Jez Corden.
Here's What We Know
On the Xbox Two podcast, Windows Central editor Jez Corden said that according to his information, gamers won't have to wait long for the Xbox handheld console to be announced - it could be unveiled as early as next year.
A little birdie whispered to me that we might be seeing some really new Xbox hardware in one form or another next year.
I don't think it will be shown off at The Game Awards 2024, but I think next year is a good year to unveil new [Xbox] iron... especially one that you can hold in your hands.
Given that Xbox head Phil Spencer has repeatedly professed his personal love for handhelds and the high popularity of such devices in today's market, it's nothing sensational that Microsoft has also decided to release a portable console and try to compete with Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, ASUS Rog Ally, MSI Claw and a host of other gadgets from little-known companies.
Earlier, Jez Corden suggested that Microsoft might release the Xbox handheld at the same time as the next model of the home gaming console, which is not expected to be released until 2028. But such a delayed release of a portable console seems doubtful, as competition will be even tougher by then.
