Today, Death Stranding Director's Cut was unexpectedly released for gamers on Xbox Series.

This version of the famous game was previously available only on PC and PlayStation, and the developers from Kojima Productions did not even hint at the possibility of its release on American consoles.

But it turns out that the Japanese studio has another important message.

Here's What We Know

Hideo Kojima bought the rights to the intellectual property of Death Stranding from Sony. Now his studio is the sole owner of the franchise and can dispose of it at will.

The amount of the deal is not disclosed

Death Stranding Director's Cut for the Xbox Series is being published by 505 Games, which previously released the original game on PC.

Since Death Stranding is now wholly owned by Kojima Productions, there's no doubt that the second instalment won't remain a PlayStation exclusive and will be released on other platforms, but the timing of that will depend on specific agreements with Sony. Perhaps at The Game Awards Kojima will talk about the availability of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach on different platforms and finally reveal the release date of the anticipated game.
