For many years now there have been rumours online that a TV series based on the famous Mass Effect game series is in the works, but this information has never been confirmed. And today - on N7 Day - Variety has revealed some important news for fans of the franchise.

Here's What We Know

As Variety has learnt, the film company Amazon MGM Studios has started work on a TV series based on the Mass Effect game series.

Nothing is known about the project, but it is stated that the writer and executive producer will be Daniel Casey ("Fast & Furious 9").

Producers of the series will be Ari Arad ("Iron Man"), Karim Zreik ("Borderlands") and Michael Gamble - game director of the new Mass Effect.

It's still unclear whether the series will be an adaptation of the iconic trilogy or offer a new story in a familiar setting, but the story of Commander Shepard and his comrades is so epic that it would look great in a series format and wouldn't require major changes.

Obviously, it will be a few more years before a Mass Effect TV series premieres, but if it's as good as Amazon's Fallout adaptation - the wait will be worth it.
