News about Samsung's possible triple foldable smartphone continues to emerge, confirming rumours of its release in 2025. Samsung filed a patent application for a triple folding smartphone back in 2021, but only received approval in November 2024.

Here's What We Know

The new patent provides additional details about the potential device. The patent describes systems that Samsung could implement to ensure the integrity of the screen and the device as a whole. The internal design aims to minimise pressure on the screen when folding and unfolding, and makes it easier to expand by avoiding excessive force.

The device housing includes layers of adhesive and stainless steel or glass backing plates to ensure that the screen remains strong. The patent also mentions an anti-reflective system based on a layer of synthetic resin and a cushioning system to protect against bumps and drops.

While Samsung will no longer be the first major company to release a device with this shape (Huawei has already released its first triple smartphone), the patent shows that the company is keen to develop technology to improve the reliability and durability of its future foldable smartphones.
