In some regions of Ukraine, almost half of those wishing to join the army are women
The highest number of women who applied to local army recruitment centres is in Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions.

In Ternopil region, almost half (48%) of all those wishing to join the Defence Forces are women. This is the highest figure in Ukraine, followed by Chernivtsi (44%) and Chernihiv (39%) regions.
Overall, according to the Ministry of Defence, on average, women account for 19% of all candidates who applied to recruitment centres.
As of April 2024, there were more than five thousand women on the front line, mostly in the Land Forces. There are 67,285 women serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, of whom 47,569 are servicewomen.
By the way, as of the beginning of November, more than 23,000 people have already received consultations on joining the Armed Forces through recruitment centres. Of these, 5,797 candidates are already undergoing the process of selecting positions and enrolment. The most active regions are Kharkiv (16.7%), Dnipro (15.5%), Kyiv (14.9%), Zaporizhzhia (12.2%) and Lviv (12.2%).
There are currently more than 10,000 vacancies in 44 recruitment centres across Ukraine, with drivers, drone operators, staff and medical professionals being the most sought-after.
