Audi has unveiled a new product for off-road and hybrid enthusiasts: the A3 allstreet 40 TFSI e. The model combines stylish off-road design with increased ground clearance and also gets the significant advantage of an all-electric driving mode for city journeys.

At the heart of the hybrid is a 1.5-litre TFSI evo2 petrol engine with 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and an 85 kW (115 hp) electric motor with 330 Nm. Together they produce up to 204 hp and give the A3 a sharp start. In kickdown mode, the engine and the electric motor work in unison to accelerate to 225 km/h. The car reaches 140 km/h on electric power.

The petrol tank holds 40 litres of fuel. The battery has a nominal capacity of 25.7 kWh and a usable capacity of 19.7 kWh. It provides an electric range of up to 140 kilometres in the WLTP cycle. When driving, the system automatically balances between the petrol and electric motors, depending on the selected mode, speed and other conditions. When you take your foot off the accelerator pedal, the car can continue to coast or it can recover energy to replenish the battery.

A 50kW fast charger can charge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes. At 11 kW AC stations, charging lasts 2.5 hours. Audi also offers the Audi charging card with access to 630,000 charging stations across Europe, including branded charging hubs.

Here's What We Know

As well as a revised design with protective plastic elements on the wheel arches, sills and bumpers, the A3 allstreet 40 TFSI e has 30mm more ground clearance than the standard A3 Sportback. 17-inch wheels are fitted as standard. In addition, the car has received original suspension settings. As an additional option is available progressive steering with variable gear ratio, depending on the angle of rotation of the steering wheel.

In Germany and some other European countries, the Audi A3 allstreet 40 TFSI e is already available for pre-order at a price from 46,000 euros.
