Microsoft will stop supporting standard email and calendar apps with Windows 11 by the end of the year - Outlook will replace them
Microsoft is planning to stop supporting the standard email client, calendar, and People app in Windows 11: all users of these services will be automatically migrated to Outlook for Windows by 31 December.
Here's What We Know
The company warns that after the end of support, users who have not migrated their data to Outlook "will no longer be able to send and receive emails using Mail and Calendar".
Microsoft has been developing an updated version of Outlook for some time and in August this year, the application became available to everyone. The new web-based app is set to completely replace the old full version of Outlook as well, and Microsoft plans to give enterprise customers 12 months' notice before support ends so they can upgrade.
Current installed versions of Outlook and versions that have been installed under licences will be supported until 2029.
