Insiders have repeatedly reported that Microsoft is working on its own prototype of the Xbox handheld console.

Finally, these rumours have been officially confirmed.

Here's What We Know

The head of the gaming division of Microsoft Phil Spencer in a conversation with Bloomberg journalists confirmed that the American corporation is indeed creating a portable console. He noted that it will take a long time, so it should not wait until at least 2027.

Spencer argued that it is important for the company to provide the public with a unique and high-quality product that can stand out against the background of numerous competitors. To do this, Microsoft engineers are considering a variety of concepts and trying to understand which of them will be the most successful.

Thus, the deadline announced by Spencer indirectly confirms that the Xbox handheld device will be released around the same period as their next-generation home console.
