European Car of the Year 2025 finalists announced: who's in?
The organisers of the Car of the Year 2025 awards have announced the list of finalists. Out of the initial 42 applicants, only 7 car models reached the final stage:
- Alfa Romeo Junior
- Citroën C3/ë-C3
- Cupra Terramar
- Dacia Duster
- Hyundai Inster
- Kia EV3
- Renault 5 / Alpine A290
The jury consists of 60 experts from 23 European countries. They will conduct additional test drives of these cars before the final vote. The winner will be announced on 10 January at the Brussels Motor Show.
How is the best chosen?
Each member of the jury has 25 points to distribute among the five finalists. A maximum of 10 points can be given to one model.
How are the votes cast in 2023?
The Car of the Year 2024 title went to the Renault Scenic, which beat six competitors in the final round: the BMW 5 Series, BYD Seal, Kia EV9, Peugeot 3008, Toyota C-HR and Volvo EX30.
The Renault Scenic scored 329 points, beating the BMW 5 Series with 308 points. In third place was the Peugeot 3008 with 197 points.
