IO Interactive has announced that the release of a special version of Hitman: World of Assassination for the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset has been postponed.

Here's What We Know

Danish developers promised to release the game in December 2024, but their plans have changed slightly. Now the release of the VR version of the stealth action compilation, which includes HITMAN (2016), HITMAN 2, HITMAN III, will be released on 27 March 2025.

As an excuse, the studio gives the usual argument: they don't want to disappoint players and need more time to finalise all elements of the project.

The decision to postpone the release date was not made by chance: we know that the release of Hitman on PS VR2 was very much in demand, and we were very happy that the announcement was received with great enthusiasm. Our priority will always be to create an amazing game that meets the high standards our players expect. The extra time will allow our team to not only polish the game, ensuring that every aspect is refined, immersive and seamless, but also add a few extra features that we really wanted to include in this PS VR2 version, such as active reloading.

The World of Assassination trilogy of stealth action games on PlayStation VR2 will offer the full gameplay experience, but with virtual reality and two-handed shooting capabilities, as well as increased interactivity. Players will get 20 missions around the world, over a hundred weapons, and complete freedom to complete missions.

Those who have Hitman: World of Assassination purchased on PlayStation 5 will be able to purchase the VR version for just $10.
