No parent would want their child to play violent games and communicate online with people who might offend them. Apparently, the authors of Roblox thought so, because now the game has a new rule for certain types of accounts.

Here's What We Know

Children under the age of 13 will no longer have access to most Roblox chat features outside of games. And search queries will no longer show games without a maturity mark.

Instead of age ratings, Roblox will apply a rating based on the type of content users can expect from the game. This should provide parents with more clarity in understanding what is appropriate for their child.

Mode developers have until 3 December to update their games to comply with the new system, otherwise they will be excluded by default for players under the age of 13.

A new type of parental account will also be added. After verifying their identity, parents can create and link their account to their child's account, which will give them access to the list of friends and the amount of time spent in the game. They will also be able to set daily time limits on their child's account.
