According to a recent report, Google is working on merging Android and Chrome OS in an attempt to turn Chrome OS into a part of Android.

Here's What We Know

This merger should help Google better compete with the iPad, but it is not entirely clear how this will affect the market. According to the latest rumours, the company plans to port the main features of Chrome OS to Android, which will be an important step in the long-term project.

Back in June, Google announced that Chrome OS would start using some elements of Android, but the new report promises even deeper integration of the two systems. Despite doubts about how this will help Google compete with the iPad, the new Android is expected to combine features from both operating systems, and future Chromebooks will run on the updated platform.

The project is likely to be completed in a few years. There are currently rumours that Google is working on a Pixel laptop that will run on the new system.
