Sony is planning to make PlayStation Portal a more independent console and one of the next updates is aimed at making some games playable without PlayStation 5.

Here's What We Know

Sony is starting to test a beta version of a new feature - support for cloud-based game streaming on PS Portal.

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will be able to play PS5 games from the PlayStation Plus catalogue directly from Sony's servers, even without a PS5 console.

The catalogue includes more than 120 games, including The Last of Us, Dave the Diver, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

However, please note that this feature is only available in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.

You can access the feature by updating your PS Portal to the latest system software and following these steps:

  • Open the Quick Menu and go to Settings on your PS Portal.
  • Click on the "Cloud Broadcasting (Beta)" button
  • Turn on "Cloud Streaming (Beta)" (it will be turned off by default).
