Billions of dollars in a thousand days: how much money Russia has spent on Ukraine's air terrorism
Yesterday - 19 November - was the thousandth day of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the terrorist country of Russia.
For a thousand days Ukraine has been confronting an enemy that outnumbers it in terms of manpower, equipment and weapons.
Never in the history of wars has russia considered casualties. For it, human life is as expendable as a shell or an armoured vehicle. As Soviet military commander Zhukov used to say, "women will give birth to more women"©, that is why more than 200 thousand dead soldiers in the war with Ukraine do not bother either the authorities or the population of Russia.
And if for Russians a human life costs nothing, the cost of missiles and drones is easy to calculate, which is what Radio Liberty journalists did.
Here's What We Know
In a thousand days of war, 10,000 missiles and more than 13,000 attack drones flew over the cities and villages of Ukraine.
Here are the number and cost of missiles that were used during the 1,000 days of unjust, unprovoked and unjustified war.
- Kinzhal hypersonic missiles -134 units, at a total cost of $1.34bn
- Kalibr cruise missiles - 927 units, at a total cost of $927 million.
- Kh-101 cruise missiles - 2,057 units, at a total cost of $2.46bn.
- Kh-22 cruise missiles - 381 units, from $114.3 million
- Onyx anti-ship missiles - 211 units, at a total cost of $633 million.
- Iskander cruise missiles - 215 units, total cost up to $215 million.
- Iskander ballistic missiles - 1,443 units, at a total cost of up to $2.9 billion
- X-35 anti-ship missiles - 17 units, at a total cost of $5.3 million.
- Zirkon hypersonic missiles - 7 units, at a total cost of $105 million.
- Tochka-U missiles - 68 units at a total cost of $20.4 million.
- S-300/S-400 missiles - 3,093 units, at a total cost of $4.2bn.
- Guided aviation missiles - 1,713 units, at a total cost of $856 million.
- Other missiles of unspecified type - 76 units.
- Strike UAVs - 13,253 units, at a total cost of $3.84bn.
The total cost of missiles and drones is more than $17 billion, and now add to this figure tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery shells, fuel, planes, helicopters, ships, the cost of salaries, ammunition and food for soldiers, payments to the dead and imagine how much money can be used to open schools, hospitals, build houses, make films and cure the seriously ill.
Every citizen of the world who decides to feel sorry for the Russians - should remember the price of war, which for Ukraine is many times higher.
