Meta has announced new features for Messenger, including HD video calls, AI background effects, and other improvements.

Here's What We Know

Users can now enable HD calling, which is a standard for Wi-Fi calls and an option for cellular calls. AI-based voice isolation has also been added to improve sound quality.

Messenger allows you to leave voice and video messages if your contacts are unavailable. It works similarly to digital voicemail: if the recipient does not answer the call, you can press the Record Message button and send an audio or video recording, which makes communication much easier.

The new Siri integration allows you to make calls and send messages using voice commands. All you have to do is say: "Hi Siri, send a message to Cassandra on Messenger", and then you can dictate the text of the message.

Meta has also recently launched AI backgrounds for video calls that can be selected during the call. The company previewed this feature at the beginning of the year, but now it is available to a wider audience. During a video call, users can choose background effects generated by artificial intelligence. To do this, click the "effects" icon in the sidebar during a video call and select the appropriate background, which allows you to create unique and creative visual effects during communication.

This update is part of a series of improvements, including a new community feature and a built-in Meta AI chatbot. In particular, the company has added a community feature that allows users to organise themselves into groups for more efficient communication. In addition, the Meta AI chatbot has been added to the search bar to help users find information or perform certain tasks. In addition to this, Meta has also updated its large file sharing system, and at the end of last year, it made end-to-end encryption the standard for all Messenger conversations.
