China's electronic warfare capabilities will pose a "serious challenge" to the US in a potential war over Taiwan

Judging by the report submitted to the US Congress on China's expanding electronic warfare capabilities, this will be a "serious challenge" for the United States in the event of a war in the Taiwan Strait.

Here's What We Know

The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC), which assesses risks in U.S.-China relations, stressed in its 2024 report that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has made significant advances in electronic warfare technologies to counter the U.S. military.

It is noted that in a potential Taiwan conflict, which is likely to involve the United States, China expects Washington to deploy unmanned ships, drones, and modern aircraft equipped with sophisticated sensors and radars.

To counter these capabilities, the Chinese army has developed electronic warfare systems capable of detecting, targeting and disrupting US-made technology designed to support the Taiwanese army.

This poses a serious challenge to the US military, as disrupting the data communications that the US and allied forces need to operate could affect the course of the war.
