In October, 18.5 million video games were sold in Europe: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 became the leader
October is usually the busiest month in the gaming industry, so it's time to take a look at the sales statistics of the second month of autumn.
Here's What We Know
In October, 18.5 million video games were sold in Europe, which is 12.4% more than in the same period last year. The sales growth is attributed to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in October, while last year's Modern Warfare 3 was launched in November.
Sales of Black Ops 6 in the first two weeks exceeded Modern Warfare 3 by 5%, but are 28% lower than Modern Warfare 2 in 2022. An important role in these changes was played by the addition of Black Ops 6 to Game Pass, which reduced sales on Xbox but significantly increased the total number of players.
Other important releases were Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, which demonstrated the best launch among the games in the series, and Super Mario Party Jamboree, which took fifth place, although it lost out to the previous instalment. Silent Hill 2 Remake and Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Console sales fell by 26% year-on-year, with PS5 down 29%, Nintendo Switch down 10%, and Xbox down 49%.
