Japan develops "machines for washing people" that measure pulse and adjust water temperature
Forget about cold baths - machines for washing people may soon be available.
Here's How It Works
Osaka-based Science has developed a cabin-like device that fills with water when the user sits in the centre seat.
Built-in sensors measure heart rate and other biological indicators to adjust the water temperature. It also projects images on the transparent body to help the person recover.
Called the Mirai Ningen Sentakuki (washing machine for people of the future), the device is not yet planned to be sold.
For now, the company will present it at an exhibition in Osaka in April 2025, where up to eight people will be able to use a 15-minute "wash and dry" session every day by appointment. However, a home version is also rumoured to be in development, with the aim of "washing not only the body but also the mind".
