Google has introduced a new feature for Android devices called Restore Credentials, which makes it much easier to upgrade to a new smartphone.

Here's What We Know

Now users don't have to manually log into each app when switching devices. When you log into an app, your phone stores what's called a Restore Key, which authenticates your identity. This key is encrypted and stored locally on the device, and synchronised with your account when cloud backup is enabled.

When you buy a new phone or change devices, your data and recovery keys are automatically downloaded from the cloud. When you open the app, it will find your recovery key and automatically log into your account with all your personal data. However, app and game developers need to implement recovery key support in their products.

Google has also added the ability to initiate the cloud recovery process at any time via the Android Switch app, giving users the flexibility to manage data recovery.
