SEGA recently confirmed its intentions to revive the once famous Virtua Fighter series, and the announcement didn't have to wait long.

Here's What We Know

Sega has unveiled a remaster of Virtua Fighter 5 with the subtitle R.E.V.O..

This will be an improved version of the 2007 game, which received a Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown remaster for PlayStation 4 in 2021.

The re-release is being created for PC only, and it is being developed by Japanese studio Ryu Ga Gotoku, the creators of the Yakuza series. The developers promise to increase the game's performance up to 60 FPS, improve the resolution to 4K, update character models and locations design, as well as modernise the player matching system (matchmaking).

Here is the description of Virtua Fighter 5: R.E.V.O. given by the developers of the game in Steam:

Fight in classic VF modes like arcade or ranked matchmaking, create your own online tournaments and leagues of up to 16 players, or learn from the best in observer mode. Perfect your fighting style to defeat all opponents in the fifth world fighting tournament and become a Virtua Fighter legend!

When We Can Expect It

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is expected to be released this winter. Along with the release of the re-release, the remaster on PS4 will be updated to version 2.0.
