The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor showed a significant jump in gaming performance. In tests, it was able to run Cyberpunk 2077 on the emulator at 60 frames per second at low graphics settings and 720p resolution.

Here's What We Know

Snapdragon 8 Elite showed a two-fold increase in gaming performance, compared to its predecessor. The previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip could only run this game at 30 FPS.

Previously, the Snapdragon 8 Elite was used to run another famous game Red Dead Redemption and it could be played at 160 FPS.

The new flagship processor from Qualcomm has an Adreno 830 graphics chip, which outperforms the AMD Radeon 780M integrated graphics in some tests. Although the emulator used is still under development, it is expected that with further software optimisations, the Snapdragon 8 Elite's performance could get even better.

The technology is also believed to utilise resolution enhancement techniques such as AMD's FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). Despite this, due to the variety of hardware in the Android ecosystem, it may take some time to achieve this level of performance across all devices.

These results suggest that the adaptation of PC gaming for mobile platforms is accelerating, and we can expect more ports of AAA games to mobile devices in the future.
