Renault Trucks has announced the E-Tech T electric truck with a range of 600 kilometres

French manufacturer Renault Trucks has announced a new model of electric truck E-Tech T, which will be able to travel up to 600 km on a single charge. The start of production is scheduled for 2026. Interestingly, neighbouring Volvo Trucks (both companies belong to the Volvo Group) plans to release a similar model as early as 2025, but neither company is yet revealing detailed information about the technical specifications.

Renault Trucks has confirmed its intentions to enter the long-haul electric truck market. Orders for the 600km range model are expected to open in the second half of 2025, with series production to begin in 2026 at the Bourg-en-Bresse plant in France. This new product will complete the range of E-Tech T-series vehicles.

Renault Trucks attributes its success in achieving this range to the new e-axle system, which integrates all drive elements, including electric motors and transmission, at the rear of the vehicle. This makes room for additional batteries. According to unofficial information, in the new configuration, the E-Tech T will be equipped with eight battery modules with a total capacity of around 800 kWh, while the maximum capacity of the current top version of the E-Tech T is 540 kWh.

At the same time, Renault emphasises that the pursuit of range has its disadvantages: large batteries increase weight, reduce payload capacity and affect the overall carbon footprint. The company promises to help customers choose the best battery for their actual needs and to optimise logistics to reduce costs.

Competitors

The European market for long-haul electric trucks is seeing some serious competition. Daimler Truck has recently started series production of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, which also has a range of around 600 kilometres, while MAN, Iveco and DAF are already preparing their models in this segment.
