The end of the Nintendo Switch era in China: eShop will stop working on 31 March 2026

If you live in China and use Nintendo services and the Switch console, you will only be able to do so for 18 months. After that, you'll need to come up with something new.

Here's What We Know

On 31 March 2026, the Chinese Nintendo eShop will no longer sell games or any other software. All applications, including paid and free games, will no longer be available for purchase or use.

From 15 May 2026, players will no longer be able to download games and redeem codes.

However, to make things better, from 27 November 2024 to 31 March 2026, players who own a Chinese Nintendo Switch console and have an active WeChat account will receive up to 4 Nintendo Switch games for free. The following games are available to choose from:

  • New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Super Mario Party
  • Mario Tennis Aces
  • Yoshi's Crafted World
  • Flexible Brain School
  • Dr Kawashima's Brain Exercises
  • Kirby Star Allies
  • New Pokémon Snap
  • Pokémon Go! Pikachu
  • Pokémon Let's Go! Eevee
