Sweden and Poland sign strategic partnership to strengthen Baltic Sea defence and security
Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk signed a strategic partnership agreement to strengthen the countries' positions in the security and defence sector in the region.

"Closer cooperation in security and defence is at the heart of our partnership. We are working together to strengthen security in the Baltic Sea region and to counter threats from Russia," said Ulf Kristersson.
The parties also discussed Poland's preparations for the presidency of the EU Council in 2025, including key issues on the EU agenda. The leaders paid special attention to security challenges and further support for Ukraine in the context of the war.
The talks were attended by business representatives who discussed the prospects for the development of the defence industry, as well as opportunities related to green and digital transformation. The meeting participants agreed that these areas are key to strengthening European competitiveness and common strategic advantages for both countries.
