Stellantis further restricts Fiat 500e production due to low sales
Stellantis, the parent company of Fiat, is increasing the pause in the production of the Fiat 500e electric car at its plant in Mirafiori, Italy. This decision is due to low sales of the compact model.
What is known.
The Italian plant has paused production several times this year and is set to do so again. Previously, it was reported that work would be suspended from 18 December to 5 January, but now the interval from 2 to 17 December has been added to this period. Consequently, the Fiat 500e will not be assembled from Monday 2 December to Sunday 5 January 2025.

However, poor sales have affected production plans for other models as well. Maserati is facing a similar problem - production of the GranTurismo and GrabCabrio will also be halted during the period.
What's up with the competition?
Car manufacturer Fiat and Alfa Romeo are not alone in cutting production due to lower demand. In Germany, Volkswagen AG is making unprecedented cost cuts, including closing three plants, laying off thousands of workers and cutting wages. Ford Motor is also cutting electric car production in the country and slashing 4,000 jobs across Europe.
