Bluesky has tightened measures against fake accounts
Social network Bluesky has updated its policy against impersonation, making it stricter. This is due to verification issues identified by a third-party analysis.

The social network now removes accounts that impersonate other people and those that use other people's names. Bluesky lacks a standard verification system, making it easy for unscrupulous users to pretend to be someone else.

Users can prove their identity by linking an account to a domain name by adding a string of text to a DNS record. However, the process is more complicated than simply paying for a tick box. The platform also requires parody and fan accounts to clearly identify themselves in their name and bio. Otherwise, they will be deleted. Bluesky also prohibits identity spoofing and is exploring additional options to improve account verification.
