Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4: the company promises a return to the brand's "true" style in the updated electric cars
Volkswagen is preparing a major update of the ID.3 and ID.4 electric cars, which will include not only design changes, but also interior and technical improvements.
Here's What We Know
In a recent interview with Auto Express, Volkswagen's head of development Kai Grünitz confirmed that both models will get a new design in the brand's style that everyone is used to. According to him, the changes will bring the aesthetics back to a more recognisable look that is associated with Volkswagen's popular cars. The design team for this project was led by Andy Mindt.

Grunitz also hinted at improvements in terms of practicality: cheaper and more efficient batteries, additional features and driver assistance systems. In other words, the updated ID.3 and ID.4 should be expected to offer better driving range at comparable prices, as well as even more optional extras.
What's inside?
One of the key elements of the update will be a better interior. Volkswagen plans to replace cheap plastic materials with nicer ones, use more fabric, and replace some of the touchscreen elements with intuitive physical keys, particularly for climate control. A general idea of the upcoming changes inside the ID.3 and ID.4 is given by the VW ID.2all concept presented in 2023.

When.
There is no specific date for the debut of the updated VW ID.3 and ID.4 on sale yet. But they probably won't appear until 2026 at the earliest. This will give Volkswagen time to take into account the changes in the electric car market and prepare truly competitive models.
