OpenAI may introduce advertising in ChatGPT, although its founder Sam Altman is not in favour of this step.

Here's What We Know

According to the Financial Times, OpenAI CFO Sarah Fryar said that the company is considering the possibility of introducing advertising, while planning to carefully choose the place and time of its display.

However, Fryar stressed that the company has no specific plans for advertising at the moment. However, recent additions to the team, including the recruitment of Shivakumar Venkataraman, a former Google employee, indicate that this intention is serious.

OpenAI is currently funded through subscriptions, but the high costs of developing and maintaining AI models threaten its further development. Sam Altman noted during a talk at Harvard that advertising for OpenAI is a last resort, as the combination of advertising and AI is a concern for him.
