WhatsApp will stop working on ten-year-old iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5S in May

It may sound incredible, but WhatsApp still works perfectly well even on an iPhone 5S that's over 10 years old! In fact, it will soon stop working.

Here's What We Know

As early as May 2025, WhatsApp will stop supporting iPhones with iOS versions before 15.1. Thus, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus will be left behind. In addition, support for the first-generation iPad Air, iPad mini 2, and iPad mini 3 will be removed from the new beta version of WhatsApp for iPad.

This step is in line with the trend of developers focusing on newer versions of the software. Apple notes that only 9% of iPhones still run on versions before iOS 16. Users of older devices will need to update the software or purchase new hardware to continue using WhatsApp.
