The visionOS 2.2 update for Apple's Vision Pro will significantly improve the Mac Virtual Display feature, which allows you to connect a mixed reality headset to your MacBook to create a large display canvas. Previously, this display allowed the screen to be displayed in a fixed rectangular shape, which limited the potential of Vision Pro's spatial features.

With the update, two new modes - widescreen and ultra-widescreen - will be introduced, offering much larger virtual canvases, allowing users to take full advantage of the expanded spatial environment and run more Mac apps simultaneously.

The update also improves display resolution, offering a crisper, clearer image, closing the gap between native visionOS apps and mirrored macOS apps. The high-resolution upgrade guarantees users a clearer and more immersive interface.

In addition, visionOS 2.2 solves an audio routing issue: previously, audio from a mirrored Mac was routed through the computer itself, resulting in inconsistencies when using other visionOS apps.

Now, audio from the Mac's virtual display is routed directly through Vision Pro, ensuring consistent audio playback whether you're using the built-in speakers or AirPods.
