When we were first shown PlayStation Portal, many people did not understand the point of the console, because despite its portability, it is a streaming gadget that is completely useless without a good internet connection and an existing PlayStation 5. However, over time, people began to buy Portal more and more, which surprised even Sony.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with the BBC, Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino, CEOs of Sony Interactive Entertainment, spoke about the success of Portal.

Nishino said that the way players play games is changing and noted that PlayStation Portal - a cross between a controller and a screen - has been a "huge success".

PlayStation Portal also already has support for cloud streaming of games from the PS Plus catalogue, which expands the device's capabilities, but the feature is not available in all countries.

Therefore, the success of the Portal, which is generally designed for a narrow audience, came as a surprise to both players and PlayStation management. However, thanks to this, Sony is now working on a full-fledged portable console.
