Huawei reports "excessive" demand for Mate 70 flagships, forcing suppliers to work overtime
Huawei recently unveiled the Mate 70 series of flagships and has started taking pre-orders for the devices. The series includes four models, the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+ and Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design, which have already attracted significant interest in China.
Here's What We Know
According to He Gang, general manager of Huawei's consumer business, the Mate 70 series has already garnered more than 6.7 million bookings in China. While these bookings are not full-fledged pre-orders and do not require payment, they still show a high level of interest. Analysts note that the hype around the Mate 70 isn't as big as last year's Mate 60 series, but it's still impressive.
Huawei's production and supply chains are working overtime to meet demand, but there is a chance that initial shipments will not be enough. The main problem could be the production of the Kirin 9020 chipset used in the Mate 70 devices, which offers 30 per cent better performance than the previous generation but still lags behind Western flagship chips.
