Denmark has handed over the second batch of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has officially confirmed that the second batch of Danish F-16s is already in Ukraine and is being prepared for combat use.

The head of state thanked Denmark for its support and noted that "if all allies were so active, Russian terror would be impossible".

We shall remind you that the arrival of the first batch of F-16s from Denmark (6 vehicles) was announced in August 2024 - these aircraft have already destroyed more than one Russian missile and saved dozens of lives and important infrastructure. The Netherlands also handed over the first batch of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Ukraine.

Flashback

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multi-role fighter developed by General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) in the 1970s. It is widely used in over 25 countries and is one of the most popular and versatile aircraft in the world. The F-16 features a single/dual-seat cockpit with excellent visibility, a powerful Pratt Whitney F100 or General Electric F110 turbojet engine, and advanced weapons control and avionics systems.

The F-16 is capable of a variety of combat missions, including air superiority, close air support, strike missions, and reconnaissance. Its high manoeuvrability and ability to carry a variety of weapons make it a valuable asset in combat operations. The aircraft can be equipped with a variety of air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, as well as guided bombs.

With ongoing upgrades, including improvements in navigation and weapons systems, the F-16 continues to be an effective combat platform.
