The game Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact was denied an age rating in Australia due to the decision of the country's Classification Board. This effectively banned the game's release in Australia due to the presence of "implicit sexual violence" against minors.

Here's What We Know

The website of the Classification Board states that the game has been given the status of "Refused Classification", which means that its content exceeds generally accepted standards of society and is not suitable even for the strictest R18+ and X18+ ratings. A representative of the council explained that the game contains a scene where an adult man is naked in front of people under the age of 18.

In a statement, the board said that "implicit sexual violence is not a justifiable context" in the game.

Australia is known for its bans on games with content that is considered extreme. For example, Hotline Miami is banned on the continent due to its violence.

Initially, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact was originally planned for release in 2024 on PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, but its release was postponed to 2025. It is currently unknown whether the publisher Arc System Works will appeal this decision or change the game's content.
